Accommodation Resources

The first place to start when seeking accommodation for your studies in UL is on the UL website itself, in the student living section. This area of the site contains information on the on-campus accommodation available to students and also keeps a list of off-campus student accommodation.

When looking for off-campus accommodation, the main thing to consider is distance from the university. Limerick has somewhat limited public transport, so unless you drive there are certain places you will want to prioritise in your search.

A good idea is to start with Google Maps, just to get an idea of where various areas of Limerick are in relation to the university.

Here is a handy map showing the 304, 307 and 308 bus routes. Here is the timetable for the 304a. With the exception of a shuttle bus to and from the off-campus student villages in Troy and Brookfield, these are the only bus routes to UL. If you live on another bus route, you will have to get a bus to the city centre, and then a bus from the city centre out to UL. This can mean leaving your house two hours before you are due in UL. Similarly, if you live in the Annacotty/Castletroy area and wish to get the 308 to UL to arrive in UL on the hour, you will be catching the bus an hour earlier, getting off on the Dublin Road and walking to UL from there. Assuming you have the time and the weather is fine, it is also possible to walk to UL from the Annacotty/Monaleen/Castletroy area in 20 minutes to an hour depending on your exact location.

If you are having difficulties with your accommodation circumstances, you can seek advice and assistance from the Accommodation Office or from us in the Postgraduate Students’ Union.
